Loan Officer Training There Are No Victims In The World Of Loan Officers
By: Andrew Poletto

I was with someone the other day who was not a Loan Officer, but the conversation did get me thinking about people within the mortgage industry. The conversation was about personal appearance, but I won't get into detail about it.

Anyway, from that small conversation I started thinking about how Loan Officers think about their personal business and what I've heard in the past from different LO's. If I've heard "it's not my fault..." from an LO one time, I've heard it a thousand times.

If you're in the mortgage origination business, you have to realize one thing, this is a people business. People will NOT always do what you want them to. BUT, the reality is you have to prepare yourself for anything that could happen. Using the EXUSE of "it's not my fault" is a total cop-out. There is no such thing as "It's not my fault..." in the mortgage business. IT'S JUST PART OF THE BUSINESS!

Getting sympathy won't get you business in our world of mortgages. The quicker you realize that, the quicker you can move on. What I'm trying to say is, there are NO VITCIMS in the world of Loan Officers. If something doesn't go as planned, you are NOT a victim, you are part of the mortgage world. Deal with it. Learn from it and move on.

We've all had setbacks, we've all experienced last minute fall out, but bottom line is if you've done everything right, then you're doing your job. Putting fault on you, your borrower, your processor, ect, is nothing more than you trying to get sympathy from someone. Yes, situations happen that you cannot control. Yes, people don't return phone calls. Yes, faxes get "lost". Yes, people lose their jobs and employment cannot be verified. It happens! If this happens to you and you vent to a friend about it, great, do it and get it off your chest. But don't get so caught that you have to tell everyone "It's not my fault..."

You are NOT a victim, you are a professional.

And now I would like to invite you develope your "Inner Mortgage Game." If you're a Loan Officer, this information is critical to your ongoing success in the Mortgage Business.
