Time Management Three Simple Techniques To Becoming More Efficient And Organized
By: Shafir Ahmad

The better you use your time, the more you will accomplish.

Here are three simple techniques that will get you more efficient and more organized.

1. Use a calendar, diary, or software organizer. Don't try to hold everything in your head, or have a mountain of post-it notes or scraps of paper littering your desk. Try to organize yourself using either a plain old fashioned diary, or a software product that allows you to schedule events and targets. Whether it is goal setting software, graphic organizers or plain old pen and paper, maintaining an organized way of seeing what is required and by when, will help you to work towards your targets.

2. Learn to prioritize. You may have a list of tasks that need to be completed, but a list on its own can simply become an enemy. Do you simply work through the list from top to bottom, or complete those tasks for people who shout loudest? It is important to identify those tasks that really do have to be completed urgently, those that are reasonably important, and those that could wait if necessary. Either use color coding, or divide the list up into groups, or use an 'A', 'B', 'C' coding to identify the level of urgency. Then make sure you stick to the list and work through the most important tasks first.

3. For the majority of people who use a computer system for work, a very simple task is that of organizing computer files. Often a great deal of time can be wasted simply looking for files. By keeping all files in one basic directory, creating suitably named and categorized sub folders, and naming files appropriately, you will be amazed at not only the difference that it will make to your productivity, but also to your sense of confidence and organization overall.

These are just a few of the most popular techniques that work for most people. Ultimately, you must be honest with yourself, and genuinely apply these methods consistently.

Remember, one minute wasted is one minute lost forever.
