Time Management Choosing Between The Myriad Of Time Management Techniques And Systems
By: Shafir Ahmad

The wonderful thing about time management is that there are so many people and companies willing to assist you. There are so many strategies and solutions to helping you solve the problem of managing your time effectively that you simply wouldn't have the time to investigate them all fully in the first place. To do lists, clever programs that generate printable to do lists for you and other clever tools all vie for your attention.

Perhaps you have looked into the idea of acquiring some magic product which will perform the equivalent of creating an extra day in the week or adding an hour and a half to each day. Possibly even generating a submissive clone of yourself to get on with the more menial tasks. If you have, you will probably have been both astonished and confused. Astonished because if the vast array of tactics and tools available, and confused because it may be unclear what will really work for you.

The truth is that what will work for one person is unlikely to have the same level of success for someone else. Everyone is different, with different preferences, ways of working, and everyone find different things rewarding or valuable as incentives. In other words, not everyone will like the same type of carrot. Handwritten scrawl works for one person, but well designed printable to do lists will only suffice for the next

This results in you having to use the 'try-it-and-see' tactic. Pick a method and have a go. If it works, then you have achieved a step in the right direction towards successfully being able to manage your time more effectively. This helps you in improving your efficiency and reducing the waste of time that you will have been so aware of.

For some people this does work very well; it is simply a matter of being honest with yourself, and asking whether this wonderful time saving technique is really saving you time, or helping you to waste it in more and more imaginative and guilt free ways.

And we should keep in mind what works for us.
