By: Christopher M Stigson

If you want to take hold of your life you need to apply action. If you don't, you are procrastinating, because you know you need to take action, thus you need to overcome procrastination and fast. This article will speak of 5 tips you can use right now to overcome procrastination and live life to the fullest.

Since most people do not know how to overcome procrastination they simply proceed and keep procrastinating even though it may cost them an arm and a leg. Letting things wait til' later means a lot of trouble. Using procrastination as a tool for relaxation is tricking yourself into believing you are running away from stress, but in reality you are not!

Here are the 5 tips:

Tip #1: To overcome procrastination you may start by writing down a list of tasks that need to be done.

This is simple! Just grab a pen and a paper and start to write down all the important things you need to do and prioritize them in a GOOD way so that you know which task is to be completed first.

Tip #2: If lack of knowledge is the reason you could easily overcome this by learning how to do a particular job.

If you are afraid you don't know something, then get a job in the industry! "Get in the corridor" as they say. This means you may want to read a bit extra on the subject so that you come prepared.

Tip #3: If you do not know how to go about a job, you can learn to develop action plans to handle the job.

If you have trouble and don't know what to do with a certain task, make sure you create a way to do it. This may include asking a TON of people serious questions and being more action oriented than usual. If you are afraid to do this, you need more confidence, which is not procrastination, but a deeper problem.

Tip #4: You may break the job into smaller tasks so that the whole job does not make you feel intimidated.

If you are intimidated by a huge chunk of work, you need to start thinking about things to do with your project and do one, or two smaller projects first. Do the more important tasks first and finish up with less important tasks later. They are worth far more to procrastinate than your big tasks!

Tip #5: You can practice goal visualization. Visualize that you are obtaining and enjoying the end results - this could be money, fame, recognition, etc.

This is a self-motivator that you should seriously consider practicing on a DAILY basis! I'm not joking. You should practice overcoming procrastination by visualizing what you want to get to motivate yourself to take action.
