Once voted most promising new act by the European Music Journalists Association, The World have evolved from a number of previous incarnations including League of Decency and Rapid. At one stage the world became one of the hottest Mp3 downloaded bands on Mp3.com (those were the days, eh!!......Ed). Their debut album, "Memorise and Destroy", sold 900 copies via downloads and internet sales. The World won the Guinness Battle of the Bands competition in 1998 (as League of Decency). They played at a music fair in Dublin in summer 1998, organised by Factory Records (UK), as well as numerous Heinekin Green Energy Festivals. The world has featured extensively on local radio and on Internet radio. Their debut single "Ultralove, was selected for the Atlantic 252 playlist, which at one time had a weekly audience of 20 million people in the UK and beyond. The world is part of a music revival taking place in Dublin, Ireland. We call this music "Rush" because it provokes a reaction in an audience that no DJ can emulate. Electrifying live rock songs have always had audience appeal and "Rush" music is no exception. The World is a three-piece outfit based in Dublin comprising of bass player Keith McBain, drummer Ivor Williams and singer/guitarist Fran. They have featured on several Irish compilations on the Danceline and Futuresque independent labels.
