What Should I Charge to Attend My Teleseminar
By: Theo McLanahan

Offering a teleseminar can help you increase your mailing list, gain new customers, and reach out to your existing customer base. You can choose to offer a teleseminar for free or you can choose to charge a fee. Setting a price on your teleseminar can be tricky, and there are a few things to consider before you make your decision. The following are a few things to consider:

Why are you offering the seminar? If you are offering this seminar to increase your mailing list or generate buzz on a new information product, you may want to offer the teleseminar for free. You can make money by marketing to your new list or off the sale of the information product you are promoting. On the other hand, if your sole purpose of offering this teleseminar is to make money, you may want to research the fees associated with similar teleseminars and charge accordingly.

How large is your current audience? The amount of traffic you currently have and the size of your current mailing list can help you determine how much to charge. If you have already established your website and receive a nice amount of traffic and have built up a mailing list, you probably have a lot of people that are willing to pay good money for the information you are offering. On the other hand, if you are trying to establish yourself as an expert and gain traffic, you may want to charge a lower fee. After you have established a larger audience you can increase the price you are charging.

Are you creating new customers or reaching out to repeat buyers? As you know, it is easier to market to your existing customer base. If your goal is to create new customers, charging a smaller fee can motivate them to try your teleseminar, even if they are not that familiar with you.

Your existing customer base will be more willing to pay a higher fee, as they are already familiar with you and the type of information you provide. Another marketing technique would be to offer your existing customer base a special discount on the price of the teleseminar.

For instance, let's say you have a cooking related website and you created an ebook with tips on cooking with children. You could offer an exclusive, free teleseminar for people that have previously bought the ebook. Not everyone who wants to listen will be able to make the call, so you can record the call and then offer it for a fee.

If interviewing an expert, can you charge them an "interview fee"? If you have a large mailing list and already have a lot of traffic coming to your website, other business owners will be willing to pay you for a chance to have your audience listen to them. By charging the presenter a fee, you can offer the teleseminar to your audience at a smaller price or for free.

Above all else, simply listen to your market. For example, if you set your price at $29.95 and do not sell as many spots as you would have liked, offer a special discount of $19.95 and see if that helps to bring in more sales.
