Hard work and determination in most cases is what sets the world a part from those who lead and from those who follow, and a sheer passion and love for what you do, ultimately creates that defining factor. This is exactly the type of thought process that exists in the mind of Synthetic Substance (aka NuOne), which has captured the attention of fans worldwide. Not only is his music considered in the top of some of the worlds biggest satellite radio stations such as Sirius and XFM, but he is also working on his second album and has not even celebrated his 18th birthday yet. Born in June of 1990 in Szczecin Poland, Synthetic Substance (Tomasz Los) finished his 1st degree in piano at the ripe old age of 14. Shortly thereafter, Tom set the wheels in motion for his first album “Shifting Secrets” when he completed his first song, “Synthetic”, which ultimately gave birth to Synthetic Substance. After 8 months of hard work, and many sleepless nights, Tom was set to release his first album worldwide at the age of 15, and shortly thereafter in April of 2007, Synthetic Substance began the creation of his second album, “Open Your Eyes”. Having already laid the foundation for his unique, sound and masterful arrangements, in his previous project, Tom was intent on shaping his own destiny. With one album under his belt, another album on the way, and having already received worldwide recognition for his music, Synthetic Substance has set the wheels in motion for an illustrious career. His music can only be described as the sound of tomorrow, in an epic nuance of mind altering, uplifting melodies and soothing rhythms, which offer a sense of peace to your inner child. Within this talent that is Synthetic Substance, he already has a number of remixes to his name, has created his own label and has his sights set on developing his new electronic dance project NuOne, and looks to be heading out onto the international DJ stage very soon. With the near completion of his second album, a number of licensing deals in the works and some major interest from TV and Film, it’s no surprise that Tomasz Los is heading into an elite league of his own.

Not only is hip-hop some of the most politically astute music around, but it might also be able to save lives someday. According to a recent article published on Purdue University News Service, researchers at Purdue have developed sensors that gather power from the rhythmic and pulse-pounding frequencies found in bass-heavy hip-hop beats. These wave-powered biomedical sensors can been used to ...
Terrible news: music editor killed in car crash
Posted on 31 Jan 2012 at 5:12 pm
News just in on the BBC : Robert Maycock has been killed in Kent when his car hit a tree. Robert, 63, had been music editor of the Independent newspaper and, before that, of Classical Music magazine. I knew him well in both capacities and liked him a lot as a thoughtful, slightly quirky colleague.
