Lush atmospherics collide gracefully with electronic beats and catchy melodies to create an audio experience that leaves you blissfully adrift in a happy place. Music for the home and the club! Jamie Odell aka Jimpster and Audiomontage has been producing, remixing and Djing for the last 15 years and co-running his Freerange Records label for the last 10 of those. His musical upbringing and open minded attitude to all types of music have meant his productions have found fans across the globe in the electronica/downtempo as well as house music scenes. Seminal Jimpster LP’s such as Messages From The Hub and Domestic Science really helped establish Jamie as an artist of some merit and he is now in regular demand as a remixer and co producer on a wide range of underground projects. Recently described by Ben Watt as a ‘future soul kingpin and bittersweet house don’, Jamie is regularly djing both in the UK and abroad. With an emphasis on top quality house music, but never afraid to stray from the path, he retains a freestyle approach that has seen him booked for gigs as diverse as Fabric, Plastic People, The Naked Music Beach Party at the WMC, Buzzin’ Fly at Neighbourhood and LA’s Bossanova. Othe recent gigs have included Vega in Copenhagen, Metro in Kyoto and Propaganda in Moscow where he has a bi-monthly residency. Jamie is also a member of highly acclaimed live outfit The Bays, who’s recent performances on John Peel sessions have confirmed them as one of the most important live acts around today. Their spontaneous and totally improvised gigs have been building up a buzz with recent headlining gigs including many of the worlds best festivals such as Glastonbury, The Big Chill, Womad, Lowlands and many others. The new Jimpster full length is finally here and well worth the wait! Amour is Jimpster’s 3rd official artist LP and his first since 2003’s Domestic Science. Kajmere Sound is proud to partner with the UK label Freerange recordings for the U.S. release of this future-classic. For Jimpster’s debut LP on Freerange, he’s chosen to push in a more home listening, song based direction which highlights his versatility as a producer and shows his ability to move stealth like between styles and tempos with a consistency rarely found. In Jamie’s own words: “it’s taken three years to finish, trying to create a real listening album rather than a collection of tracks. I wanted something that can really be enjoyed at home rather than just made for the dancefloor.” From downtempo, instrumental hiphop grooves through to abstract minimal techno through to deep, clicky house and way beyond, this LP will reawaken even the most jaded of listeners out there. This could be because of Jamie’s early decision to bring in featured vocalists to bring a different spin to his usual, instrumental styles. Each vocalist on this album has a unique approach and background which helps to bring a different identity to each of the tracks and keep things sounding fresh and musical throughout. Whether it’s the lyrical flow of Captiol A on Left & Right, the jazzual sensuality of Gothenburg’s Elsa Hedburg on Slippin’, The soul drenched vocals of Alexander East on Love You Better or the samba-soul heat brought by London based Rasiyah on Secret Sun, each delivery goes toward creating a unique yet thoroughly accessible LP The common thread throughout is Jamie’s electronic wizardry that he uses to merge technological precision and raw organic soul in a way that sounds like it was always meant to be. What else would you expect from a man that’s been pushing the boundaries of electronic music for the last 15 years?
