Since the age of 5, Gernado has been a student of the art of music. He begin listening to music, Reggae Music particularly, with his Father as early as 5 years of age. Musicians like Bob Marley began to inspire Gernado to grow more and more within the world of reggae music, and in his growing he began to find connection with other youth who had similar interests. This lead to him becoming a member of middle, and eventually high school bands. While attending Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, Gernado learned to appreciate the art and theory of music. Thus he learned to read, write, and play such instruments as the Drums, Trumpet and Piano.

He eventually graduated with a Vocational Certification involving Instruments. Upon Abram's graduation, he stayed rooted in music through his affiliation with a Jacksonville Jazz Band and through playing within a local Ministry. In 1995, Gernado embarked on his first Reggae Project. It was on this project that Gernado was able to showcase his vocal as well as his instrumental capabilities. This project was a collaboration between Gernado and some original Islanders from Kingston, Jamaica. Although the project was never publicly released, it received rave reviews from all who heard it. This became a feather in his cap, as most who heard the project were from the Islands and were connoisseurs of 'Real Reggae' music.

Gernado, who describes himself as 'A Child of Light', is now presently working on a Gospel Reggae project that can be described as a mix between the heart felt musical styling's of lyricists such as: Morgan Heritage, GarnettSilk and Capleton. This project is anticipated to be one of the most creative and musically expressive projects of Gernado's career as he was released by God to 'Go Forth' and pursue this project with full intensity, in early 2002. Gernado has been diligently working on the project which will be entitled 'PERSISTENCE', to ensure that it makes it's way to the public platform, and that connoisseurs of 'Real Reggae' music continue to be impressed.
