Wealth Statistics Life and Wealth in 2008
By: Joe Crawford

Wealth statistics give us information like gross earning, net worth, net income, and asset value. Behind the numbers there are many ideas and truths worth investigating. If ever given the chance stop and ask a wealthy person, maybe a person worth three or four hundred million, what they did to create that type of lifestyle. You will probably be surprised with the way your question is met.

Statistically wealthy individuals are those people who are living the lifestyle of their dreams believed they could live the lives of their dreams. For many this belief was likely born early in their life. During childhood parents are given an opportunity to create beliefs and self-image in their children and many do. I was treated like a human being as a young person and given the room to discover who I was. This pattern has stayed with me. Sometimes I feel it is a blessing, sometimes a curse. At a young age I thought about rules much more than I followed them. Instead of finding my place in the neighborhood I saw the places and wondered where the came from.

Lifestyle can be defined as the way we experience life in a physical way. It can include the house we live in, the car we drive and how we drive it. Many equate lifestyle to the way they feel about the house they life in and the way they feel about the car they drive and more importantly the way they feel when they drive it. If your reading this article right now, you have the opportunity to experience any lifestyle you choose.

If you are one of the people I briefly outlined in the first paragraph, you, basically through your belief in yourself and your ability to live the lifestyle of your dreams set off to accomplish just that. You took inspired action and were motivated by an underlying usually effortless belief or knowing that you were on your way to something you valued and longed for. You were able to produce the faith needed to take the necessary risks along the way and your belief in yourself and your eventual attainment of the end prize was your companion on the journey.

Now for the rest of us. The misfits, as Jack Kerouac calls them, (google him by the way, cool stuff) the ones who are outside of the box thinkers. The people who never quite new what the next thing was and were not really all that motivated by it anyway. People who for whatever reason did not develop that ideal life, or that overreaching vision for your life.

Listen, if you have ever looked around and discover it seemed as if everyone was on their second trip through the ride of life. You know, kinda like they knew exactly what do do next. They went to high school got good grades, knew who to hang out with. They went to college picked the right major at the right time and got the job they really wanted. Then they got married had kids at the right time. I could go on and on.

Maybe you thought dropping out of college and starting a business was a good idea. Or maybe spending a couple years in the peace corp became your reality after you caught the idea from a flier at the train station. For some the motivator or the underlying vision is simply, Freedom.

Living with the vision of freedom for your life may be met with opposition or at least lack of support. Like when someone asks you what you do. If your answer starts with, "Well I am into..." , then you know what I am talking about. Lifestyle is the really nothing more that self style. It about being able to be yourself, do the things you want and have the things you want to have. Its about sitting quietly and feeling fulfilled and exited about the future.

We all take different paths. Sometimes it seems like everyone else is on the same path, but they are not. Minding my own business has been my most valuable personal trait that I have acquired in my wanderings. Breaking away from the confusion long enough to sit down and write out what I wanted for my life was the greatest gift I gave myself. The most productive thing I have done since is to sit in a chair from time to time and think about that.

There is a certain security that comes with knowing that what you have done has led to what you are doing and what you are doing is leading you to what you will be doing. There is security, in other words, with continuity.

There is another security that comes with knowing that in the end it will all make sense in a certain way. A security that leaves you with a sense of safe wonder where you know everything is going to be alright. Where what lies around the corner will be a choice to make not a certainty to accept.
