Hypnotizing and spirited mix of dub reggae with a twist DUB is a style of reggae that originated in the studios of Jamaica in the early mid and late seventies. The producers who's names like Mad Professor, King Tubby, Scientist and Lee "scratch" Perry would take a song or a "rhythm" and remix it into several different "versions". What we try to do is make this music live on stage right before your eyes. Lennox Holeness (www.Rai.com) who plays bass lays down very solid grooves that are crucial in this music and Jason Cameron on guitar whose past stints with reggae heavies IPSO-FACTO which included a special performance at the world famous APOLLO THEATER really put a twist on the rhythms with both his playing and his unique vocal style. Mark "20/20" Cardenas the veteran in this group whose own walls are adorned with gold and platinum records from his stints with MORRIS DAY and THE TIME and JANET JACKSON (including cameo's in the movie Purple Rain), puts all those years of performing to add a important element to this music. At times we also have been known to feature some guests to our family such as Pete Dub (www.dubtrain.com) who's attention to detail as a live dub engineer is unmatched as well as an unending list of other skills including the building of Dubtrain studios and live engineering of the new dub super group FACULTY OF DUB who include none other than BURNING SPEARS drummer Nelson Miller and Clinton Fearon on Bass and is also featured on a few Dubchampz tracks playing steel drums. Leif Dalan (www.Nuffsedd.com) makes his home playing keyboards with the seminal incredible Seattle reggae band NUFFSEDD and reggae all-star PREZIDENT BROWN. Chris "C.D." Littlefield who performs a tireless touring schedule with KARL DENNISON'S TINY UNIVERSE, brings a mean space trumpet that takes the music to far out spaces. On the drumz is Davee C who's tireless daily schedule of performing both locally and abroad has included stints with EEK-A-MOUSE, PHAT SIDY SMOKEHOUSE, SALASIE-I-SOLDIER and years on the road with reggae legend, pioneer and musical wizard CLINTON FEARON (www.boogiebrown.com,Gladiators,Channel One & Blak Ark studio musician)and playing drums with the dubchampz as a backing band to other artist such as JUNIOR P and ROCKER T original singer for the super group SKA-DANK. Last and certainly not least, we bring Adrian Xavier (www.Sacredgroove.com) whose multi-talent is at times mind boggling; juggling skills such as writing, producing and performing on his latest release "Our Nature" to spinning the ones and twos. We the dUBChampionz hope that with this recipe we can strike a vibe of dancing and maximum positivity. Also please feel free after checking us out to give ANY KIND of feedback at dub.championz@comcast.net. We extremely welcome all comments. Thank you and enjoy!

Hip-Hop just saved your life: How the beats in rap music could power implanta...
Posted on 3 Feb 2012 at 1:04 am
Not only is hip-hop some of the most politically astute music around, but it might also be able to save lives someday. According to a recent article published on Purdue University News Service, researchers at Purdue have developed sensors that gather power from the rhythmic and pulse-pounding frequencies found in bass-heavy hip-hop beats. These wave-powered biomedical sensors can been used to ...
Terrible news: music editor killed in car crash
Posted on 31 Jan 2012 at 5:12 pm
News just in on the BBC : Robert Maycock has been killed in Kent when his car hit a tree. Robert, 63, had been music editor of the Independent newspaper and, before that, of Classical Music magazine. I knew him well in both capacities and liked him a lot as a thoughtful, slightly quirky colleague.
