Hundreds of performers and artists will flood the isolated city of Perth this week, transforming it into a cultural hub of arts, theatre and music for the launch of the Perth International Arts Festival.

In the Oscar-nominated film Hugo, Martin Scorsese features an excerpt of the restored film short Le Voyage Dans La Lune by French pioneer filmmaker Georges Méliès, which will now be available with a score by French pop electronica duo Air.

On January 30, controversial indie star and newly minted model Lana Del Rey releases her debut album, Born to Die, while music legend Leonard Cohen drops his latest, Old Ideas. 

Tamworth hosted the 40th Jayco CMAA Country Music Awards of Australia and the winners' list was a roll call of country music royalty.

Stevie Wonder will play a one-off concert at the Sandalford Estate in Margaret River on March 2.
